  1. Who Are We?

Futza is a football quiz app run by IQ Entertainment Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number [17232341]) with its registered office at [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS.

We are the "controller" of the personal data described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it is used. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER].

This policy covers the Futza app on iOS and Android and our website. You can contact us at admin@iqentertainmentltd.com.

2. The Short Version

  • We collect only what we need to run Futza: your account details, your football profile, your quiz results, and technical and usage information so we can fix bugs and improve the app.

  • We do not sell your data, and we do not use it to show you personalised adverts.

  • You can delete your account at any time from the Settings menu in the app.

  • Futza is for football fans of all ages. Please read section 10 if you are under 13, or if you are a parent or guardian.

3. What Personal Data We Collect

Account details. Your email address and/or phone number, and a password if you create a Futza account directly. Passwords are stored securely and we cannot read them.

Profile and preferences. Your display name, the club and nation you support, and your self-rated football knowledge level (Beginner, Intermediate or Expert).

Onboarding answers. Your answers to a few short questions about how you follow football (for example, when you started following, how you watch games and how regularly).

Gameplay data. Your quiz results, high scores, the game formats you have played and completed, and your leaderboard position. Your display name and score may be visible to other players on leaderboards, so please do not use your real name or personal information as a display name.

Technical and usage data. Information about your device and how you use the app, such as device model, operating system version, app version, language, approximate location (country or region, worked out from your IP address; we do not collect precise location), and app events such as which games you start and finish, how long sessions last and which screens you visit. See section 5.

Messages to us. If you email us, we keep your message and our replies.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos or payment details. We do not currently take payments or show adverts in Futza. If that changes, we will update this policy first.

4. How And Why We Use Your Data

Under UK data protection law we need a lawful basis for each use of your data. Ours are:

  • To create and run your account, save your progress, and provide the games and leaderboards (your account details, login provider details, profile, gameplay data). Lawful basis: performing our contract with you (our Terms and Conditions).

  • To personalise your experience, for example showing content relevant to your club or knowledge level (profile, onboarding answers). Lawful basis: performing our contract with you, and our legitimate interest in making the app enjoyable.

  • To keep Futza secure and prevent cheating, abuse and fraud (account, gameplay and technical data). Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in protecting the app and its users.

  • To fix bugs and understand how the app is used, so we can improve it (technical, usage and crash data). Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the app, and, where the law requires it, your consent or your right to opt out (see section 5).

  • To respond to your messages and requests (messages to us, account details). Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running the service and helping users, or performing our contract with you.

  • To meet legal obligations and to establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Lawful basis: legal obligation or legitimate interests.

We do not make decisions about you using solely automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

5. Analytics And Crash Reporting

We use Google Firebase Analytics to collect statistical information about how Futza is used, such as which game modes are started and completed, how long sessions last and where people stop playing, so we can improve the app. We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports so we can fix technical problems. These services use identifiers on your device (such as an app instance ID).

We use this information only to understand and improve Futza. We do not use it for advertising.

You can opt out of analytics at any time [by switching off "Analytics" in the app's Settings / by emailing us at admin@iqentertainmentltd.com]. Your device settings may also let you limit or reset advertising and app identifiers.

Analytics data is kept for a limited period set in our analytics settings (no longer than 14 months).

6. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share it only with:

  • Login providers (Apple, Google and Meta), if you choose to sign in with them. Their own privacy policies apply to their use of your data.

  • Google (Firebase) and other cloud infrastructure providers that host our servers and databases and provide authentication, analytics and crash reporting. They act on our instructions as our "processors", except that Google acts as an independent controller for some purposes described in its own terms.

  • Our website host and email provider, to run our website and receive your messages.

  • Professional advisers (such as lawyers, accountants and insurers) where needed.

  • Authorities or other parties where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, users or others; and any buyer or successor if we sell or restructure the business (who would have to respect this policy).

Leaderboards are visible to other Futza players and show your display name and score.

7. Transfers Outside The UK

Some of our providers, including Google, process data in countries outside the UK, such as the United States. Where we do this, we make sure a lawful transfer mechanism protects your data, such as the UK–US data bridge, an adequacy decision, or the UK's standard contractual clauses (the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum).

8. How Long We Keep Your Data

  • Account, profile, onboarding answers and gameplay data: for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we erase these from our live systems within 30 days. Copies in routine backups are overwritten in the ordinary course.

  • Analytics and crash data: for the limited period set out in section 5.

  • Messages to us: for as long as needed to deal with your query and for a reasonable period afterwards.

  • Records we must keep by law: for as long as the law requires.

9. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you and get a copy.

  • Correct data that is wrong or incomplete (you can edit your profile in the app).

  • Delete your data. You can delete your account from the Settings menu in the app, or email us.

  • Restrict how we use your data in certain circumstances.

  • Object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including analytics.

  • Data portability: receive data you gave us in a portable format, where the processing is based on contract.

  • Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on your consent.

To use any of these rights, email admin@iqentertainmentltd.com. We will respond within one month. We may need to check your identity first.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please tell us so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

10. Children

Futza is a general football trivia app suitable for all ages, and we have designed it with younger players in mind:

  • We collect only the data we need to run the app.

  • We do not use anyone's personal data, including children's, for advertising or profiling. If we introduce adverts in future, they will be contextual (based on what is on screen, not on who you are) and will not use personal data.

  • We do not collect precise location.

  • Leaderboards show only a display name and a score. We encourage players not to use their real name.

In the UK, children aged 13 and over can agree to online services for themselves. If you are under 13, please ask a parent or guardian to set up and manage your Futza account with you. If we learn that an account for a child under 13 has been set up without a parent or guardian's involvement, we will delete it on request or when we identify it.

Parents and guardians: you can contact us at admin@iqentertainmentltd.com at any time to ask what data we hold about your child, or to have it deleted.

11. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including secure authentication and encrypted connections. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password and keep your login details private. If there is a personal data breach that puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

12. Third-Party Services And Links

Signing in with Apple, Google or Facebook, and downloading the app from the App Store or Google Play, involves those companies' own privacy practices, which we do not control. Please read their policies.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, if the changes are significant, tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
